Roseanne Barr, Andrew Dice Clay team up for comedy tour that'll start on LI
Controversial comedians Roseanne Barr and Andrew Dice Clay are teaming up for a stand-up tour set to launch at The Paramount in Huntington in September.
"We're both excited because we both don't give a [expletive] what anybody thinks about anything," Clay, 61, told Fox News on Sunday, after announcing their "Mr. & Mrs. America" tour on Instagram the day before. Barr, 67, has not commented other than by uploading the tour poster to her Instagram account.
The duo so far has announced two dates: The Paramount on Sept. 19, and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Sept. 20. Tickets for each go on sale Friday at 10 a.m., according to Ticketmaster.
"We were just kind of lucky on this,” Paramount spokesman Adam Ellis told Newsday of the comics’ choice to launch at that venue. "We have a great relationship with his agent and were able to jump on this tour before anybody else.”
Clay, who has courted controversy since at least 1990 for what critics call his onstage persona's sexism and misogyny, said, "America really needs to lighten up and not worry about the words comedians use because it's all we have. There's clean stuff and there's street stuff. I'm a street guy because I tell it like it is."
He said of Barr, who was fired from her ABC sitcom "Roseanne" in May 2018 after issuing a racist tweet, "She's an original, I'm an original and people should just stop reading Twitter. Calm down with your political conversations."
Clay had teamed up with Barr on March 16 at the Tropicana Laugh Factory in Las Vegas, her first onstage performance since the firing, “[a]nd last Night Made So Many People Laugh," he wrote on Instagram the next day. "And They Loved Her! We are The Comedians Of This Crumbling World , But We are Human and Sometimes Screw Up , or Things Taken The Wrong way !!! Our Job Tho , is To Keep you Laughing Amongst The KAOS Of a World going Through Pain !!! She was Nervous and Afraid last Night , But Once the Audience Laughed ... She was Right Backvin The Groove and Crushed !!! So Proud Of Her ... Love You Roseann."
