Is Rosie O'Donnell engaged?

Us Weekly said Tuesday that a representative for O'Donnell responded simply "They are together" following a tabloid report that the Commack-raised comedian-actress, 56, proposed over the summer to police officer Elizabeth Rooney. The two have been together for at least 11 months, and have appeared as a couple at events including the Family Equality Council's Night at the Pier, at Pier 60 in Manhattan on May 7.

The original report at RadarOnline.com said Rooney is with the Worcester, Massachusetts, police department. A photo on the department's official Facebook page shows her in uniform posing riding a police horse. Rooney's Instagram page -- which includes a Nov. 11, 2017, photo of her and O'Donnell posing together at an event -- lists her as a mounted police officer, Army veteran and undefeated Army boxer.

In November, O'Donnell  told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show that she was in a relationship, saying, "It's the first time I have dated someone [much] younger than me" and calling the 22-year age difference "a very trippy thing." She added that nonetheless, "I get along so well with her it's kind of fascinating. … The one thing that she doesn't know [is the singer-actress Barbra] Streisand. She doesn't really know. I made her watch 'Funny Girl,' " the 1968 movie hit starring Streisand as comedian Fanny Brice. "She's like, 'It was good.' I'm like, 'Arhhhh! Come on!' "

O'Donnell had married Kelli Carpenter in February 2004 during a window in which San Francisco conducted same-sex marriages. The California Supreme Court annulled theirs and thousands of other marriages that August. The couple broke up in 2007. O'Donnell went on to marry Michelle Rounds in 2012 but filed for divorce in February 2015. It was finalized a little over a year later. Rounds died by suicide in September 2017, at age 46.

O'Donnell has five children: Parker Jaren, whom she adopted in 1995; Chelsea Belle, adopted in 1997; Blake Christopher, adopted with Carpenter in 1999; Vivienne Rose, 15, born to Carpenter through artificial insemination; and Dakota, adopted as a newborn with Rounds in January 2013.

O'Donnell's spokeswoman did not respond to a Newsday request for comment, and O'Donnell has not commented on social media.
