Russell Brand, Katy Perry wed at resort in India
British comedian Russell Brand and American pop singer Katy Perry were married yesterday in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony at a luxury resort in a tiger reserve in northwestern India, a hotel official said.
A Hindu priest conducted the ceremony, which was attended by family and close friends of the couple, the official said, on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the media.
As usual for celebrity weddings, security was stringent with private guards stationed at the Aman-i-Khás resort and nearby hotels, according to The Associated Press. No photographers or reporters were allowed, although the couple did give exclusive coverage rights to a London magazine.
Brand, 35, and Perry, 26, wore traditional Indian clothes. Perry was in a sari, as were several other female guests at the ceremony. At a pre-wedding party on Friday, Perry, like a typical Indian bride, had henna designs applied on her palms and hands.
