"Beautiful Girls" singer Sean Kingston, recovering from a horrific water scooter accident in May, says his condition was worse than reported -- and that he plans to hop on a personal watercraft again.
"A lot of people don't know [that] it was a deeper situation," he said in an MTV interview Tuesday night. "I had open heart surgery and I had, like, two other surgeries, so it was real crazy. It was a life-or-death situation."
Kingston, 21, was being released after 23 days in a Miami hospital when he "felt a pain in my left chest, and I told my mom. They rushed . . . and they did a lot of scans on me; they said I couldn't leave."
A torn aorta filled his lungs with blood, calling for immediate, high-risk surgeries.
The singer has since recovered. "I'm feeling great," he said. "I'm blessed. I'm happy to be here. It was a tragic situation but God pulled me through it."
He lost weight during his recovery, and is now working with a trainer to lose 20 more pounds.
Having already made a return to performing, joining Nicki Minaj onstage for a song on July 22, he said he plans to begin work on a new album in Los Angeles, perform "spot dates" and release a new single by December.
He's also "definitely going to be Jet-Skiing again," he said. "I have to overcome my fear. It wasn't the Jet Ski, it was not knowing the area" that led him to run into a bridge.
