A representative for Selena Gomez has confirmed that the former Disney star was recently treated at a rehabilitation facility for undisclosed reasons.

"Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse," the rep said in a statement Wednesday, referring to the 14-acre Sonoran Desert clinic The Meadows in Wickenburg, Ariz. No other details were released.

People magazine said it had confirmed a report, first published by RadarOnline.com, that Gomez, 21, had checked herself in for two weeks in January.

The Meadows' website says the facility provides treatment "that taps into the underlying root issues behind self-destructive behaviors like low self-esteem, codependency, immaturity and childhood trauma."

In December, the "Come & Get It" singer canceled the Australian leg of her Stars Dance World Tour, saying in an apologetic statement to fans: "It has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."

Within the past year, Gomez, in addition to her tour, released the album "Stars Dance," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard chart. She starred in two films -- "Spring Breakers" and "Getaway" -- and filmed a starring role in the upcoming "Behaving Badly." She also ended a relationship with teen idol Justin Bieber. The couple first broke up in November 2012 and later reconciled, but by May, Gomez was again confirming that she was single.
