Selena Gomez talks about Justin Bieber case
Selena Gomez gave her first public reaction Thursday to a recently withdrawn paternity suit that a San Diego woman had filed against Gomez's boyfriend, teen pop star Justin Bieber.
Gomez, 19, told TV talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres, "I have been [all right], yeah," when DeGeneres asked how the singer-actress has been holding up over the "crazy two weeks . . . [the suit has] been in the news."
Gomez assured: "It's good to just kind of be good," evidently meaning even-tempered, though she admitted, "Yeah, it's not easy."
Mariah Yeater, 20, had filed suit Oct. 31 alleging that a tryst backstage after a 2010 Bieber concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles led to the birth July 6 of her son. Bieber has consistently denied meeting the woman. When he offered to take a DNA test, Yeater withdrew her suit. Her attorney said Wednesday he was keeping open the option of refiling.
In response to another DeGeneres query, Gomez acknowledged the 17-year-old Bieber's grand romantic gestures, such as renting out the Staples Center for a private dinner and a screening of the movie "Titanic" on the JumboTron, but said that's not her style.
"Obviously, that's very sweet," she said, "but I like to do things that are a little bit different and he always gets mad because everything he does gets out, and he's, like, 'How come nobody knows what you do?' "
