With his hit sitcom now shut down for the remainder of the season, "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen fired back Thursday night, continuing his war of words with the show's creator and showrunner.
In a letter to TMZ.com, he called Chuck Lorre, originally from Bethpage, a "contaminated little maggot," escalating an ongoing dispute between the two. Earlier in the day, on the syndicated "Alex Jones" radio show, he called Lorre a "clown" and repeatedly referred to him as Chaim Levine. (Lorre's real name is Charles Michael Levine.) TMZ later posted a story reporting that Sheen challenged Lorre to a fight, calling him a "stupid, stupid little man."
The outbursts prompted CBS and producer Warner Bros. TV to issue a terse statement last night announcing that production of TV's top-rated sitcom was being shut down for the season because of the "conduct and condition" of its star.
"Two and a Half Men" had been scheduled to resume production Monday with Sheen returning to the set Tuesday. The show had been on production hiatus since late last month when Sheen entered rehab. There was no word last night whether the show would return next season.
