Despite accounts otherwise, a very pregnant Kelly Preston did not go into labor and prompt husband John Travolta to cancel an Australian appearance to rush back to her, a representative for the actor said Sunday.

"This story is 100 percent false," Travolta's representative told People magazine. "She's not in labor. John is en route back to the U.S. as was always the plan for him to return this weekend."

The story originated in a report by the European news syndicate Agence France-Presse, which quoted a spokesman for Qantas Airways explaining why Travolta did not appear at a Perth charity event this weekend.

"He's on the way back to the States because his wife's gone into labor," the spokesman told AFP. "His priority was always obviously his wife's pregnancy and we completely respect that."

Travolta, 56, a celebrity ambassador for Qantas, had been in Australia for about a week to help celebrate the national airline's 90th anniversary.

He was scheduled to appear in Perth on Friday for an annual televised charity event called Telethon.
