Jon Stewart may not be on "The Daily Show" any more, but that doesn't mean he stopped having political views.
"Are we really doing the Trump thing?" he asked during his appearance at the ninth annual "Stand Up for Heroes" fundraiser at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Stewart then called Donald Trump "hilarious" and "easily mockable."
Stewart also took aim at Ben Carson, as well as Hillary Clinton, who he said will become president because she will be ruthless in her campaigning.
Of course, Stewart took aim at himself, saying people come up to him now and ask, "Are you OK? You look like you have hepatitis."
He said he was always thrilled to perform at "Stand Up for Heroes," sponsored by the New York Comedy Festival and the Bob Woodruff Foundation to raise funds to improve the lives of injured veterans.
"You guys make me remember that we can be better," he told the crowd, which was packed with veterans.
With the New York Comedy Festival in full swing, the event is never lacking for big-time laughs. This year's comedians Stewart, John Oliver, Seth Meyers and Ray Romano took turns rolling out prime material.
Romano talked of his upcoming HBO series "Vinyl," which he said was very different from his days on "Everybody Loves Raymond." "Sitcom sex is very different from HBO sex," he said, apologizing that he had a sex scene in the new show. "I feel like I have to warn people."
Of course, Bruce Springsteen knows his way around a quip himself, delivering increasingly dirty jokes for the military audience between raucous classics like "Darlington County" and "Working on the Highway."
"These are musician jokes," Springsteen said, after telling one of his favorite cathouse lines. "I didn't say they were good."
