'Glee' whiz! Couric will play herself on show
Katie Couric, a self-professed "gleek" who watches the Fox high-school musical "Glee" every week with her 14-year-old daughter, is in talks to appear on the post-Super Bowl episode of the show, according to Deadline.com TV columnist Michael Ausiello. The "CBS Evening News" anchor would play herself in a scene with dictatorial cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, played by Jane Lynch, according to a Fox source. Entertainment Weekly said the episode will include covers of Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas and Lady Antebellum songs, plus a medley featuring Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
Divorce papers spell end for Lopez marriage
George Lopez and his wife of 17 years are making their breakup official with her filing for divorce, The Associated Press reports. Ann Serrano Lopez filed her petition, citing irreconcilable differences, on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The pair announced their breakup in September and said they would remain partners in a charitable foundation. They have a 14-year-old daughter, and Serrano Lopez is seeking physical custody.
Bohemia's Airport Playhouse set to close after 33 years
After 33 years, Airport Playhouse in Bohemia is closing its doors for good Dec. 31, Newsday's Steve Parks reports. Airport's management for the past six years - artistic director Ed Brennan and general manager Terry, Brennan's wife - will join forces with CM Performing Arts Center in Oakdale. CM executive director Noel Ruiz said yesterday, "The closing of this theater is a tremendous loss to the Long Island community," adding, "I welcome the entire Airport family" to CM. Ed Brennan will become CM's associate artistic director; Terry Brennan will be marketing director.
