Applegate expecting; no date for wedding

Christina Applegate and her fiance Martyn Lenoble are expecting, her rep told People magazine. The "Married . . . with Children"/"Samantha Who?" star says her fiance, a Dutch bass player, helped her recover after undergoing a double mastectomy. "I'm very grateful to Martyn for coming along at a time that he did because he's been my rock through all of this," Applegate told People last year. "He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about." Applegate, 38, and Lenoble, 41, dated for two years before becoming engaged on Valentine's Day. No date has been set for their wedding.


Singer Isaak in hunt for Simon's 'Idol' seat

Singer Chris Isaak may soon have a new "Wicked Game" to play - as a judge on "American Idol," succeeding Simon Cowell, Frank Lovece reports. Isaak, 54, has met twice with Fox executives who are seeking a replacement for the acerbic Brit, who left to launch his own upcoming Fox singing competition "The X Factor," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Singers Harry Connick Jr. and Bret Michaels have also been considered, the trade paper said, though sources told the paper that Michaels is out of the running.


Schwimmer's second film as director to screen

David Schwimmer's latest directorial effort, "Trust," will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, The Associated Press reports. The movie was shot last year in Michigan and marks the former "Friends" star's second time directing a feature film. The film is about the fallout from an attack by an online sexual predator and stars Clive Owen, Catherine Keener and Viola Davis.
