True to his word, Justin Timberlake escorted Cpl. Kelsey De Santis to her Marine Corps Ball in Richmond, Va., Saturday, fulfilling a promise made in July to the martial-arts-instructor trainer from Base Quantico.

Singer-actor Timberlake, 30, accompanied her to the fete at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, where De Santis, 23, began the evening in uniform and later changed to a low-cut green evening gown. One guest told local TV station WTVR that the six-time Grammy Award-winner posed for pictures and was genial and friendly.

Timberlake had agreed to the date after De Santis -- following the example of a fellow marine who had asked out actress Mila Kunis via YouTube -- posted a video of herself inviting him.

De Santis told the Marine Corps Times she'd been struck by Timberlake's enthusiasm over Kunis accepting Sgt. Scott Moore's invitation to a ball this Friday.

"Something kind of just came over me," she said. "I was like, 'Wow, you know, it seems like he wants to go! It seems like he might need a date.' I have a sense of humor, and I thought it would be kind of fun."

Aimee Lupino, a stylist who prepped De Santis, told WTVR that the tough marine -- who defended her amateur mixed-martial-arts featherweight title Oct. 22 at the Dulles SportsPlex, delivering a knockout in the first round -- "was not stressed." In fact, "She printed a pic of herself and autographed it for Justin!"

Lupino said De Santis put together a gift bag of Marine Corps-related items for Timberlake. "Kelsey is just a beautiful person inside and out and Justin Timberlake was lucky to be her date to the Marine Corps Ball!" she enthused.

De Santis is transitioning out of the Marine Corps this month, according to her LinkedIn page.

Kunis' representative told The Washington Post in early November that the actress still planned to attend Moore's Camp Lejeune, N.C., ball this Friday.
