'Twilight's' Robert Pattinson in Saddam Hussein film

Robert Pattinson, star of the soon-to-end "Twilight" franchise, is set to play a real-life U.S. soldier who helped capture Saddam Hussein in the upcoming thriller "Mission: Blacklist," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is based on Eric Maddox's book "Mission: Black List #1: The Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein -- As Told by the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture."
Maddox served as an interrogator with the 12-man team that tracked the onetime Iraqi president to his so-called spider-hole in Tikrit on Dec. 13, 2003.
"Mission: Blacklist" would mark a major change for Pattinson, best known as the vampire Edward Cullen in the "The Twilight Saga," which concludes Nov. 16 with "Breaking Dawn -- Part 2."
Pattinson's non-vampire roles have been mostly sensitive types in movies like the 9/11-themed drama "Remember Me" and the Depression-era romance "Water For Elephants." Coming up, he'll play a 19th-century French man in "Bel Ami" and a wealthy financier in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis," based on Don DeLillo's novel.
Pattinson will help promote "Cosmopolis" at this month's Cannes Film Festival, where the makers of "Mission: Blacklist" are expected to shop their movie for a buyer. Jean-Stephane Sauvaire is set to direct.
Pattinson recently returned to "The Twilight Saga" set in Vancouver to film reshoots for "Breaking Dawn."
