Victoria's Secret wows 'em with women power
Instead of hyping the flesh factor, the folks at Victoria's Secret took a somewhat tamer route last night at the 69th Street Armory, when they celebrated women power with a series of five elaborately produced vignettes and some of the sexiest models in the world.
Sure, they were marketing bras - push ups, demis and balconettes - oh my, but elaborate getups that went from revved up Elly May Clampett gingham numbers to hilarious stuff in a section called "Game On," which included one model wearing about a dozen pennant flags jutting out of her shorts to a "Wild Things," grouping featuring supermodel Karolina Kurkova in gigantic peacock feather ensemble with male dancers and gymnasts in subservient model-worshipping roles. Many looks seemed to be iterations of that famous "Wonder Woman" costume.
Katy Perry performed two songs, but no one had a better time than singer Akon, who danced and flirted with models as he totally rocked the house. Among the many celebs was Vin Diesel, who stood and danced at his seat.
"I had the greatest time," he said afterward, "I've never been to a show like this in my life." Who has?
