Weather forecaster Mr. G retiring from WCBS-FM
Venerable New York weather forecaster Irv Gikofsky, better known as Mr. G, is retiring from WCBS-FM radio after nearly four decades, though he will remain on WPIX/11's "News at Ten," Newsday contributor Frank Lovece reports. "It's not easy for me, because I don't leave things . . . I'm a marathoner," Gikofsky said Tuesday during his last day on the "Scott Shannon in the Morning" show. "The way I see it, it's been 37 years at the station, and being now that I've turned 114, I think it's time to sleep a little later," he joked.
