Will Nicollette Sheridan appear on the series wrap of "Desperate Housewives," which is ending next year?

Show creator Marc Cherry said Sunday there was a chance it could happen. "I have an idea for the last episode in which I want to pay homage to everyone who's been there before, who's been on the show. So we'll see what happens with that," he told TV critics in Beverly Hills.

That revelation was a surprise to Sheridan. "News to me," Sheridan said Monday on the "Today" show. "I had an amazing time playing that character. I loved her dearly, but they killed her. She's dead."

The actress, who played Edie Britt, has filed a $20 million wrongful termination suit against Cherry stemming from her 2009 firing from the show. Edie was killed in a car crash, so a return to life would seem unlikely.

Asked if he could "invoke" Edie without actually showing footage of her, Cherry noted. "I don't know how I'd do that."
