The rumors of their breakup have been greatly exaggerated: Film star Will Smith and his wife, "HawthoRNe" headliner Jada Pinkett Smith, are not separating.
Responding to a claim Tuesday by an anonymous "insider" in the tabloid In Touch Weekly, the couple, married 13 years, affirmed they were not splitting up.
"Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports," they said in a statement through Smith's publicist, "the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact."
Trey Smith, Smith's 18-year-old son from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino, chimed in on his Twitter page, saying, "Did Will and Jada split? No they did NOT split ! False information . . . Will and Jada getting a DIVORCE ..NOT TRUE AT ALL !! . . . Everyone can think what they want ..even if its not true #Lame."
Pinkett Smith, 39, also addressed rumors that she and her "HawthoRNe" co-star, Marc Anthony, who recently separated from Jennifer Lopez, were an item. "All the rumors regarding Marc Anthony and Jada are false. Completely untrue," Pinkett Smith's publicist, Karynne Tencer, told People magazine.
Anthony's own representative told the magazine, "We unequivocally deny this. Enough is enough. There are families involved, children involved, friendships involved. This is NOT true."
The Smiths -- who met in 1990 when Pinkett Smith auditioned for but did not land the role of Smith's girlfriend on his sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" -- were married New Year's Eve 1997 at a mansion near her hometown of Baltimore. Their son, Jaden Christopher Syre, was born the following July and daughter Willow Camille Reign in October 2000.
