As he performed the heartfelt song "Man in the Mirror" during a Michael Jackson tribute at the BET Awards Sunday, singer Chris Brown may have pulled the visual equivalent of a Milli Vanilli lip-sync: A witness says Brown's emotional outpouring of tears was fake.

An unnamed "backstage source" told Us magazine Thursday that one of Brown's bodyguards gave the 21-year-old singer some tear-inducing eye drops. "He rubbed it in, and he started crying," the magazine quoted the source.

Brown's publicist, Chris Chambers of The Chamber Group, told Newsday: "Whoever the source is, it's completely untrue. Chris' performance was performed from his heart. It's a complete untruth from whoever said that to the publication."
