Lindsay Lohan was back in Merrick Monday after flying in from Los Angeles Sunday night with her younger sister Ali and their mom, Dina.

"It was really important to get back home and get out of L.A.," Dina Lohan told Newsday on Monday. "Helicopters were following us from her home to court, photographers always waiting for her -- it's not a normal way to live. Here in this town, no one really cares who she is, except the little kids coming back from school saying, 'Hi, Lindsay!' "

The "Mean Girls" star, 24, is mostly sticking to home, Dina Lohan said. Late Monday afternoon, the actress and her younger siblings Michael and Ali had just left "for some stuff they had to do in the city; they'll be home later tonight. Then Lindsay and I will be in the city [Tuesday]. We're all over the place, taking meetings."

She confirmed her daughter has just switched talent agencies. "There are a lot of new scripts [for Lindsay to read], a lot of great stuff going on. We'll be back in L.A., obviously, for court," she said, referring to Lindsay's scheduled appearance March 25 to accept or reject a plea deal in a felony grand theft case.

But otherwise, "she's really excited to get back to work and put all this court stuff behind us."
