Zooey Deschanel, husband split

'New Girl" star Zooey Deschanel, 31, and her husband of two years, Death Cab for Cutie lead singer Ben Gibbard, 35, have separated, reports Us Weekly.

The magazine said the breakup was mutual and amicable and that no third party was involved.

Deschanel, whose new Fox sitcom has been picked up for a full season, married Gibbard near Seattle in September 2009. The actress, who also sings in the music duo She & Him with guitarist M. Ward, met Gibbard three years ago through their mutual music manager.
