Watching the women’s indoor volleyball, USA vs. Korea, and I think I have a new hero: Destinee Hooker.
Sure, there’s the fabulous name, which will surely inspire a new generation of drag queens. But look at this woman -- she’s killing out there. (And “kill,” I’ve just learned, is an actual volleyball term, not just hyperbole.) The 24-year-old Texan has got the longest legs you can imagine and she can JUMP. And those arms look skinny but she can WHACK that ball.
The match is being played in Earls Court, where many musical acts have played over the years, including the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Celine Dion -- but apparently the NBC announcer doesn’t care for Dion. Thanks for sharing, dude.
OK, things got rough for the American team, but they managed to win the match. Go, Destinee -- we want to see more of you.
