'Duran Duran Unstaged' will play at Cannes
Arclight Films announced Wednesday the acquisition of "Duran Duran Unstaged," a concert film directed by David Lynch ("Blue Velvet"). The film is scheduled to screen at the Cannes Film Festival this month.
The film chronicles a performance by Duran Duran that was presented as part of the "Unstaged" concert series sponsored by American Express. Lynch was the director of that show, which was held at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles March 23, 2011, and broadcast live via YouTube. The film is being touted as a "director's cut" that has never been seen by the public.
The show featured guest appearances by Mark Ronson, Kelis, Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance and Beth Ditto of The Gossip.
“The idea was to try and create, on the fly, layers of images permeating Duran Duran on the stage,” Lynch said in a press release from Arclight. “A world of experimentation and some happy accidents."
