The song of the year award at the Grammys is undeniably one of the foremost honors in the music industry. This songwriter's award has been given to a hot pop song in years past, including Beyonce's  "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" in 2010, Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" in 2009 and Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" in 2008.

In each of the past couple of years, at least one country song and one song that would be considered "indie" or rock has been nominated. With that in mind, we looked back over the past year and compiled our list: 10 songs we can't get out of our heads that just might get nominated. Here they are, along with our thoughts, and a video gallery at the end.

"Love the Way You Lie," Eminem (feat. Rihanna)

This song is catchy and has gotten a ton of radio play. And Eminem and Rihanna are a winning combo if there ever was one. This one seems like a shoo-in.

"Airplanes," B.o.B. (feat. Hayley Williams of Paramore)

We have to admit, at first we couldn't tell this song and "Love the Way You Lie" apart. And we're not the only ones. A number of mashups of the two have been posted on YouTube. Because they are so similar, our vote goes for "Love the Way You Lie" getting the nomination, but this one could really use a wish right now.

"Sparks Fly," Taylor Swift

The Grammy powers that be love them some Taylor Swift. Last year she was nominated eight times, winning the top prize, Album of the Year, for "Fearless." With more than 1 million copies of her new album, "Speak Now," already sold and 11 songs currently on Billboard's Hot 100, one of them will likely get nominated. This one is on the list because, well, it's the highest on the Billboard 100 and we admit, it's catchy.

"Dog Days Are Over," Florence + The Machine

"Lungs," the amazing debut album from Florence + The Machine, was released in July 2009. So, yes, this song is outside of the eligibility year. But, as the Grammy website states: "A song is eligible if it was first released or if it first achieved prominence during the Eligibility Year." Thanks to the trailer for Julia Roberts' latest film, "Eat Pray Love," which featured the song, it's been pulled from relative obscurity to the mainstream. And it's great (as is the rest of the album).

"Need You Now," Lady Antebellum

We don't know much about country music, but we do know that Lady Antebellum is huge, and this track has had major crossover appeal, getting a good deal of radio play on mainstream pop stations. As stated on our earlier Grammy Hype post, this album was also tops in sales for the first half of 2010. If we were the gambling type, we'd bet this one is a sure thing.

"Ready to Start," Arcade Fire

We heart Arcade Fire. "The Suburbs," their third album,  was released earlier this year to critical acclaim and some commercial success, especially for an indie band. "Ready to Start" is an upbeat, hyped-up track. It makes us happy, and fingers crossed, this one (or really, any Arcade Fire track) gets nominated.

"- -  You (Forget You)," Cee Lo Green

Oh, man, this song is pretty awesome. As critic Glenn Gamboa wrote in his review of the "Lady Killer" album from Green, "So far, all the talk has centered around '-- You,' his expletive-filled rant set to an innocent slice of Motown soul crooned as sweetly as Smokey Robinson. The combination is compelling enough to be a song of the year candidate." Word. Also, there is major traction behind this track in the pop culture world right now. Gwyneth Paltrow is rumored to be singing a "clean" version on "Glee" and William Shatner recently sang the "dirty" version on "George Lopez."

"Closer to the Edge," 30 Seconds to Mars

Something about Jordan Catalano (Jared Leto) of "My So Called Life"  being the front man of what is now a huge band is still strange to us. When 30 Seconds to Mars started out, they seemed to be a bit of a joke. But all the kids are loving them now and "Closer to the Edge" is a great song. They won the rock video of the year award earlier this year at the MTV VMAs for "Kings and Queens," another addictive track. This rock anthem just might get the nod.

"OMG," Usher (feat. Will.I.Am)

We love this song because it brings together a duo that we never expected to see ... and their collaboration works perfectly. They are both veterans in the game and this song is one of the biggest hits of the year. With "OMG," Usher came back strong after so much ridicule for his previous album. People said he lost his shine, but he got it back with this track.

"Bottoms Up," Trey Songz (feat. Nicki Minaj)

This song is pure fire. The chorus is catchy, Nicki's verse is crazy and the most memorable part of it all is the beginning. Trey starts it off by saying, "It's Mr. steal your girl," a term that it seems like every guy in the world started using after it came out. Song of the year? Might be a long shot. But we still can't get it out of our heads.

Honorable mentions:

Not all the hot songs of the year can make our top 10. Here are other songs we can't get out of our heads.

"Home," Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
"Deuces," Chris Brown
"Rude Boy," Rihanna
"Bloodbuzz Ohio," The National
"Dance Yrself Clean," LCD Soundsystem
"The Catalyst," Linkin Park
"Fancy," Drake (feat. Swizz Beatz and T.I.)

Share your thoughts and don't forget to vote for the song you think will not only get nominated, but might win song of the year.
