The Grammy’s take place on Feb. 13, but before the big show we’re going to hit you up with some info about the nominees for best new artist. First up is Justin Bieber a.k.a “The Beebs.”

Bieber had an amazing year with a multiplatinum album, book and movie deals and appearances on just about every music awards show last year. He had the young girls going wild and everyone young or old got hit with Bieber fever at least once.

His mass appeal is gigantic and he keeps his fans wanting more after every performance.

Here are some facts about the teen star:

Hometown: Ontario, Canada

Birthday: March 1, 1994

How he got in the game: According to allmusic.com, Bieber started posting videos of himself singing on YouTube and the videos caught the attention of talent agent and former So So Def marketing executive Scooter Braun. Braun set up an audition for Bieber with R&B star Usher who was so impressed with the then 15-year-old that he signed him to a recording contract. The rest is history.

First hit single: “One Time” was released in May 2009 and went platinum in America and Canada.

Why he deserves to be a nominee for best new artist: At the age of 16 this kid has already made history (youngest person to ever win “Artist of the Year” at the American Music Awards), he has the respect of some of the hottest veterans in the game, he is already at multiplatinum status and has made a huge impact in the music world in a relatively short amount of time.

The Beebs only started to get major recognition in the spring of 2009 and he is already an international phenomenon. I mean, he has dolls made in his likeness and a movie about his life, "Never Say Never," is slated for a February release. Some say he had the upper hand because he had Usher as his mentor, but whatever it is, all we know is that this young'un has the pop world on smash.

Check out the video for his first hit single, "One Time," below. Not one of my favorite songs of his, but obviously millions of others love it.
