The saga of Hugh Hefner's canceled third marriage continued Monday with the Playboy founder moving one of his many girlfriends into the No. 1 slot, and letting runaway bride Crystal Harris keep the engagement ring.
A week after Harris, 25, and Hefner, 85, parted ways, the legendary Lothario has moved Miss January 2011, Anna Sophia Berglund, 25, to the top of the rotation, Playboy sources told E! News and TMZ.com.
Ironically, as Hefner himself tweeted yesterday afternoon, "Anna is Crystal's best friend & mine as well," adding, "She's the one who helped me survive this past week."
Harris survived the scheduled day of the wedding, she tweeted Saturday, by "head[ing] out of town for the day with [Kellie Olisky, a Playboy publicist,] for some R&R." They partied with former reality star Heidi Montag at Wet Republic, the pool at the MGM Grand Las Vegas hotel-casino -- leading former Hefner girlfriend and former "Girls Next Door" star Holly Madison to tweet that Harris' appearance was "disgusting" and "a new low" and that "whoever booked her is tacky!"
Harris tweeted in her defense, "Hard times show your real friends." Responded Madison, "No, they show HEF's real friends."
Hef himself seemed nonplused by the whole affair: Harris said he let her keep the 3-carat diamond engagement ring.
"After all is said & done," Hefner tweeted Monday, "staying single is probably the best. I think I just missed a bullet."
