Hillary Rodham Clinton -- Democratic presidential front-runner and suddenly a visible figure on the media circuit, too -- reportedly will make an appearance during the cold open of the "Saturday Night Live" 41st season premiere Saturday night.

"SNL" would neither confirm nor deny a New York Times report, which was posted on the paper's website Thursday and apparently caught the network off-guard -- and possibly the Clinton camp, too. The story referred to the brief appearance as "top-secret."

An "SNL" cameo would appear consistent with Clinton's heightened media profile in recent days, from news venues ("Meet the Press," "Face the Nation") to late- night ones, including "The Tonight Show" in mid-September, when Jimmy Fallon not only touched her hair, but pulled it ("It's real," he joked). Clinton was also interviewed by "Girls" star Lena Dunham for the inaugural issue of her newsletter, "Lennyletter."

Clinton is expected to appear alongside Sea Cliff native Kate McKinnon -- "SNL's" resident Hillary portrayer -- in the open, according to the Times report. Clinton's first and only appearance on the program was March 1, 2008, when she appeared alongside Amy Poehler -- who had also portrayed Clinton -- saying: "I simply adore Amy's impression of me."

In addition to Poehler, Ana Gasteyer and the late Jan Hooks have portrayed Clinton on "SNL."

Miley Cyrus hosts and will also be the musical guest on Saturday's show.
