Hollywood Life: Long Island celebs join forces at North Shore Animal League America gala
North Shore Animal League America's Get Your Rescue On gala Friday night is taking place at the Pierre Hotel in Manhattan, but it's going to be packed with plenty of stars with ties to Long Island.
Among those who'll be on hand to help out the Port Washington-based animal rescue and adoption organization are Rockville Centre-raised funny lady Amy Schumer, who'll take the stage for a special performance; Roosevelt-raised DJ Howard Stern and his wife, Beth, who will be honored; and Raquel Castro, the Port Jefferson Station actress-singer who appears on Fox's "Empire."
Also set to appear are comic Lisa Lampanelli, chef and talk-show host Rachael Ray, musical trio Wilson Phillips and many others. And it's a pet-friendly event, which means most likely many four-legged friends will attend -- hopefully all dressed up, too.
'Supergirl's' super man
Melissa Benoist, 27, won't have to do much acting to appear attracted to her new love interest on CBS' "Supergirl" -- he'll be played by her husband, Blake Jenner. The actor will portray Adam Foster, a mystery man whose presence in National City leads to a surprising relationship with Kara Zor-El (aka our heroine). According to E! News, Jenner, 23, has signed on for a multi-episode story arc, which will begin in early 2016.
Will the new "Hunger Games" movie be the best in the series? Go to hollywoodlife.com and let us know.
