Hugh Hefner documentary trailer

Hugh Hefner has been called many things in his life, and the new documentary "Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel" by Brigitte Berman touches on just about all of them.

When Hefner launched Playboy Magazine in 1953, he championed the sexual revolution and battled religious conservatives and militant feminists. As a byproduct, he became a pioneer in the civil rights movement, as some of the interviews in the trailer below claim. Watch and see.

The movie will be released in the New York and Los Angeles markets on July 30.
