Kris Humphries, the ex-husband of Kim Kardashian, is receiving backlash for a tweet he posted in response to Bruce Jenner’s interview with Diane Sawyer on Friday.

“Man, I’m glad I got out when I did. #Gottadoyou,” tweeted Humphries, 30, a forward with the Washington Wizards.

Jenner, during his interview with Sawyer that aired on ABC, revealed that “for all intents and purposes, I am a woman.”

Humphries and Kardashian were wed in 2011, but after the 72-day marriage fell apart, Humphries claimed the wedding was a publicity stunt. Their divorce was finalized in 2013 after a bitter court battle.

His tweet was widely perceived as negative and roundly received backlash on social media.

Responding to his critics, Humphries later apologized in a tweet, saying: “I have and always will support Bruce hence #Gottadoyou. Now recognize I was too vague and sincerely apologize for the way this came across.”

Jenner, 65, a former Olympic gold medalist, has the support of his family and six children, including Kendall and Kylie Jenner, his two daughters with Kardashian's mother, Kris Jenner. They all posted Twitter comments after Sawyer's interview with Bruce Jenner aired Friday night.

Kendall Jenner tweeted: “so very proud of you, my hero,” while Kylie Jenner tweeted: “Woke up still in awe... I've never been more proud of you, Dad!!!!!"

Kim Kardashian tweeted: “Love is the courage to live the truest, best version of yourself. Bruce is love. I love you Bruce. #ProuodDaughter.

His ex-wife Kris Jenner tweeted: “Not only was I able to call him my husband for 25 years and father of my children, I am now able to call him my hero.”
