THE MOVIE "Marvel's The Avengers"

THE DEAL Despite breaking box-office records with its $200 million, three-day opening, the Disney blockbuster hasn't been super-popular with one group: online pirates. For the week ending May 6, "The Avengers" was only the third-most-downloaded movie via BitTorrent, coming in behind the Reese Witherspoon vehicle "This Means War" and the Jonah Hill comedy "21 Jump Street," according to the blog TorrentFreak. One possible explanation: Viewers may still prefer to watch some big-screen movies on the big screen. According to TorrentFreak, "The challenge for the movie industry is to make legal offerings more appealing than pirated counterparts."

THE MOVIE "The Beatles: The Lost Concert"

THE DEAL Nationwide screenings of this 92-minute documentary about the Fab Four's first-ever U.S. concert, originally set for next Thursday and May 22, have been postponed, according to the New York-based distributor, Screenvision. The film purportedly contains restored footage of the band's 12-song, half-hour set at the Washington Coliseum on Feb. 11, 1964, which Screenvision says has not been seen "in over four decades." A Beatles box set available through iTunes, however, also claims to offer the concert footage "from beginning to end." Screenvision blamed the postponed screenings on "last-minute issues which are being resolved by the documentary's producers" and expressed hope for a release later this summer.

THE MOVIE "The Perfect Family"

THE DEAL Anne Renton's comedy, starring Kathleen Turner as a suburban mom whose chances for the Catholic Woman of the Year award are being spoiled by her nonconformist family, is playing only in Manhattan -- except, that is, for a short local run starting tonight. Turner has received good reviews, as has Emily Deschanel (Fox's "Bones") as an inconveniently gay daughter. Jason Ritter also stars.
