Ben Affleck is in talks to star in a sequel to his 2016 crime drama “The Accountant.”

The Hollywood Reporter said Monday that Warner Bros. also is negotiating with the film’s writer, Bill Dubuque, and director, Gavin O’Connor, to continue the adventures of mathematics savant Christian Wolff, an accountant for a criminal organization who turns assassin when a Treasury Department investigation gets underway.

Affleck, 44, who has won Academy Awards as a screenwriter (“Good Will Hunting”) and as a best picture producer (“Argo”), has not commented publicly.

“The Accountant,” made for an estimated $44 million, grossed more than $86 million domestically as part a worldwide total of over $155 million.
