WHO Chris Evans

THE MOVIE “Red Sea Diving Resort”

THE DEAL The actor best known as Captain America will play an Israeli spy in a new movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Red Sea Diving Resort” tells the story of a Mossad operation to rescue Ethiopian Jews trapped in Sudan during the late 1970s and early ’80s. The film is written and directed by Gideon Raff, creator of the Israel television show “Prisoners of War,” which became the basis for Showtime’s hit series “Homeland.”

THE MOVIE “Beauty and the Beast”

THE DEAL Disney’s live-action remake starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens will play in Malaysia despite its controversial “gay moment,” according to Deadline. In the film, the bumbling sidekick LeFou (Josh Gad) is briefly revealed to be gay. In Malaysia, where homosexuality is illegal, officials demanded that Disney edit the movie, but last week the studio refused. Monday, however, Malaysia’s largest cinema chain, Golden Screen Cinemas, tweeted that the film will be released March 30 with no cuts, though its PG rating will be upped to PG-13. “Beauty and the Beast” set the record for the biggest March opening ever last weekend with $170 million in ticket sales.
