Clint Eastwood's "Hereafter," which stars Matt Damon, Cecile de France, Jay Mohr and Bryce Dallas Howard, has been selected to serve as the closing night film at the 48th New York Film Festival, which runs Sept. 24-Oct. 10, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The supernatural thriller about three people haunted by their mortality is due out Oct. 22. "Hereafter" is the fourth film directed by Eastwood to secure a berth at the Lincoln Center fest.

"Hereafter" is one of three high-profile fall releases that will anchor the fest, which opens with David Fincher's "The Social Network" and includes Julie Taymor's "The Tempest."

The full lineup, announced Monday, is heavy with films featured at May's Festival de Cannes, including the Palme d'Or winner "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives," directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
