WHO Edward Burns
THE MOVIE "Newlyweds"
THE DEAL The latest from the Valley Stream filmmaker will be released through Tribeca Film, the distribution arm of the Tribeca Film Festival, which had screened Burns' movie as its closing night offering in April. The comedy about a marriage under strain stars Caitlin FitzGerald ("It's Complicated") and Kerry Bishé (ABC's "Scrubs"). Burns shot the film over 21 days entirely in the TriBeCa neighborhood.
WHO Jennifer Garner
THE MOVIE "The Odd Life of Timothy Green"
THE DEAL This Disney film doesn't yet have a release date, but the studio is already trying to stoke publicity by putting the trailer on the Internet. Garner co-stars with Joel Edgerton ("Smokin' Aces") as Cindy and Jim Green, a small-town couple whose hopes for a child come true when one lands on their doorstep. C.J. Adams ("Dan in Real Life") plays the mysterious kid; Peter Hedges, who penned the screenplay for "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?," is the writer and director.
THE MOVIE "Suburban America: Problems & Promise"
THE DEAL Where better than America's first suburb to hold a sneak preview of this documentary, which will air nationally on PBS next month? Directed by Greenlawn-based Ron Rudaitis, the film examines the changing demographics of suburbs in general, focusing on Latino, Asian-American and Muslim-American communities. Rudaitis will speak at this weekend's screening, which aims to raise funds for Sustainable Long Island, an economic development organization.
