Long live The Grateful Dead.

The 50th anniversary of the legendary rockers who defined the term "jam band" -- and also inspired a popular flavor of Ben & Jerry's ice cream -- is being celebrated in a big way. First comes Saturday night's Dead On Live concert at Suffolk Theater in Riverhead. Then on May 4, Fathom Events and Rhino Entertainment will resurrect the Dead for its fifth annual Meet-Up at the Movies at four local movie theaters.

Meet-Up each year presents a big-screen showing of one of the Dead's concerts. Up this year is the group's July 19, 1989, concert filmed at Alpine Valley Music Theatre, in East Troy, Wisconsin, featuring such Dead favorites as

"Sugaree," "Terrapin Station" and more.

The film will be shown at Westbury Stadium 12, 7000 Brush Hollow Rd.; Farmingdale Multiplex Cinemas, 1001 Broad Hollow Rd.; Island 16 Cinema De Lux, 185 Morris Ave., Holtsville; and AMC Loews Stony Brook 17, 2196 Nesconset Hwy. at 7 p.m. Reserve tickets ($12.50-$13.50) at fathomevents.com
