'Barney Miller' star Hal Linden to appear at premiere of 'The Samuel Project' in Commack

TV icon Hal Linden will appear at the New York premiere of "The Samuel Project," plus a reception beforehand, at the SYJCC in Commack on Wednesday.
The eight-time Emmy Award nominee for "Barney Miller," 87, stars with Ryan Ochoa (the Disney XD series "Pair of Kings") in a comedic drama of a teen who makes his grandfather the subject of an animated art project, and discovers that the elderly San Diego dry cleaner was saved from Nazi capture in Germany by a young woman when he was a boy.
The film opens the 6th International Jewish Film Festival. Following the 6 p.m. reception and the screening at 7:30 is a Q&A panel discussion with Linden, Ochoa, fellow cast-member Malina Moye and director and co-writer Mark Fusco.
The screening is $10 for SYJCC members, $12 for non-members and $6 for students, and the event with reception is $36 for members and $40 for non-members.
The film opens Friday in New York City and Oct. 5 nationwide.
In addition to his prime-time Emmy nominations, Linden — who starred as the titular New York City police captain in the acclaimed 1974-1982 comedy series "Barney Miller" — earned an individual achievement Daytime Emmy in 1983 for his work as host of ABC's "FYI." A longtime Broadway veteran, he won the 1971 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, for "The Rothschilds."
