THE MOVIE "Anchorman: The Legend Continues"
THE DEAL The actor has joined the cast of this much-awaited sequel to Will Ferrell's 2004 hit comedy, "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Though plot details are being kept under wraps, Ford reportedly will play a veteran newscaster in the mold of Tom Brokaw, a role not unlike the one he played in the 2010 romantic comedy "Morning Glory." "Anchorman" is due in theaters Dec. 20.

THE MOVIE "Molly's Theory of Relativity"
THE DEAL The Plainview-raised filmmaker, whose low-budget, labor-of-love movies have drawn near-universal critical praise, is now officially the hardest-working man in independent cinema. Last weekend in Manhattan, he held eight Q & A sessions at screenings of his latest film, a comedy-drama about an unemployed astrophysicist (Sophia Takal) grappling with life's larger questions. This weekend in Huntington, Lipsky will appear in person for another 12 screenings. "Why should the people who come at 7:30 in the evening be treated any better than the people who come at 2 in the afternoon?" he says. While his movie is playing, Lipsky plans to use his laptop to finish writing his next project.

THE MOVIE "Amour"
THE DEAL Michael Haneke's French-language film, starring Emmanuelle Riva as an elderly woman slipping into illness, was a surprise hit at the Oscars, winning the foreign-language award and earning nominations for best picture, director, screenplay and actress. Locally, "Amour" is playing only at Sag Harbor Cinema, but a screening in Patchogue will feature guest speaker Peter Mascuch, coordinator of the Film/Media Studies Program at St. Joseph's College. He will talk about why this seemingly downbeat movie has struck such a chord among viewers.
