The 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's movie blockbuster "Jaws" continues to make waves on Long Island. Tilles Center on Monday announced that it will present "Jaws in Concert" — a screening of the film with live musical accompaniment by the Massapequa Philharmonic — on Sept. 14.
"Jaws," which came out in 1975, is often credited as the first true summer movie blockbuster. Based on Peter Benchley's bestselling novel, the film about a seaside community threatened by a great white shark kept viewers on the edge of their seats. Music director David Bernard will conduct the philharmonic as they perform John Williams' Oscar-winning score in sync with the movie.
Tickets for "Jaws in Concert" ($35-$120) go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Wednesday at tillescenter.org. Tickets went on sale Monday for Tilles Center members; subscribers can purchase them starting Tuesday at 10 a.m.
