Cannonball!" A few hours later, the Twitter account for Ron Burgundy, the chauvinist San Diego newsman played by <a href="/topics//Will_Ferrell">Ferrell</a>, welcomed the actress and paid her a slightly off-color compliment. <a href="/topics//Paul_Rudd">Paul Rudd</a>, <a href="/topics//Steve_Carell">Steve Carell</a>, <a href="/topics//David_Koechner">David Koechner</a> and <a href="/topics//Christina_Applegate">Christina Applegate</a> also star in the film, due for release Dec. 20.

 THE DEAL The star of "Hansel &amp; Gretel: Witch Hunters" reportedly has signed on for this drama about the controversial journalist Gary <a href="/topics//Gary_Webb">Webb</a>. Renner will play Webb, a reporter for the <a href="/topics//San_Jose_Mercury_News">San Jose Mercury News</a> whose explosive 1996 series "Dark Alliance" alleged a connection between the <a href="/topics//Central_Intelligence_Agency">CIA</a>, the Nicaraguan Contras and America's crack cocaine epidemic. After other publications poked holes in Webb's story, his own paper backed away from it; years later, Webb committed suicide. <a href="/topics//Focus_Features">Focus Features</a> will distribute the film, which is scheduled to begin production this summer.

 THE DEAL This documentary focuses on Caris Corfman, a Yale drama school graduate whose budding career in the late 1980s -- she appeared in the original Broadway production of "Amadeus" -- was derailed after an operation on a brain tumor virtually destroyed her short-term memory. Though unable to memorize lines or even remember the previous hour, Corfman eventually staged a 45-minute, one-woman show, reciting long-ago lines still lodged in her brain and new material from index cards. Gaylen Ross and Rebecca Nelson, who made the documentary, will appear at a local screening co-presented by the Head Injury Association.
