WHO Kristin Chenoweth

THE MOVIE "Hard Sell"

THE DEAL If you've spotted the star of Broadway's "Wicked" and ABC's "Pushing Daisies" in Oyster Bay lately, that's because she's filming a movie there. It's a teen comedy called "Hard Sell," about a poor high schooler named Hardy (Skyler Gisondo) who enlists the help of a stripper (Katrina Bowden, of NBC's "30 Rock") to help pay for his dog's surgery. Chenoweth plays Hardy's mother. "Hard Sell" is filming through next week in Oyster Bay, the hometown of director Sean Nalaboff and producer Jared Greenman.

WHO Ellen Page

THE MOVIE "Into the Forest"

THE DEAL The actress best known for "Juno" and "Inception" will star opposite Evan Rachel Wood in this adaptation of Jean Hegland's doomsday novel. The story is set in the future and follows two teenage sisters trying to survive as civilization collapses around them. (The book took place in North Carolina; Wood was born there.) Page is a producer on the film, which is written and directed by Patricia Rozema ("Mansfield Park").

WHO Herschell Gordon Lewis

THE MOVIE "Blood Feast"

THE DEAL The director's groundbreaking 1963 horror movie -- sometimes called the first "splatter" film -- screens with a double feature of James Landis' "The Sadist," released the same year. Pending availability, the 84-year-old Lewis will speak to audiences live via Skype, as will cult film star Arch Hall Jr. This gory evening, called Halloween Terror Fest, will be hosted by actor Johnny Legend ("Bride of Re-Animator"), who now runs the DVD label Legendhouse.

INFO Thursday night at 7 at Cinema Arts Centre, 423 Park Ave., Huntington. Tickets are $15. 631-423-7611; cinemaartscentre.org.
