“The Last Race,” a documentary about Riverhead Raceway, will be shown in sneak-preview screenings Wednesday night at 90 Regal theaters around the country, including several on Long Island.

The film will be preceded by a conversation between NASCAR driver Kyle Busch and ESPN’s Marty Smith that will be available only in theaters. Directed by Michael Dweck, a Brooklyn native raised in Bellmore, “The Last Race” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and received strong reviews for its unusual camerawork and ear-grabbing audio. Variety called it a “graceful, ruminative fragment of scrap-metal Americana.” Not long after its premiere, the film was picked up for distribution by Magnolia Pictures.

Long Island venues holding the preview screenings include Farmingdale Stadium 10, Lynbrook 13 & RPX, Regal Deer Park Stadium 16 & IMAX, Ronkonkoma Cinema 9 and Southampton 4. “The Last Race” will officially be released in theaters and through video-on-demand on Friday. For more information and times, go to thelastracethefilm.com.
