THE MOVIE "Paddington"

THE DEAL He isn't even in the movie, but the actor known as TV's "Sherlock Holmes" has designed a sleuth-outfitted statue of the bear known as Paddington. The fuzzy children's book character, due to hit U.S. screens Jan. 16, is getting celebrity treatment in the United Kingdom, with other Paddingtons designed by Emma Watson, David Beckham and Kate Moss. The statues are to be stationed around London and auctioned off to benefit charity.

THE DEAL The director and co-writer of the controversial biblical epic "Noah" will serve as president of the Berlin Film Festival's international jury. Officially called the Berlinale, it's one of the major festivals where none of Aronofsky's films has ever been screened (his films have been shown at Cannes, Sundance and Venice). The Berlinale will run Feb. 5-15.

THE DEAL Peter Berg's drama about Navy SEALs in Afghanistan will screen next week in honor of Veterans Day. The film stars Taylor Kitsch as Michael Murphy, a SEAL from Patchogue who was killed in action. Half of box-office proceeds, and all proceeds from sales of Murph Golden Ale, will go to a scholarship fund in Murphy's name.
