“The Wolf of Wall Street” star Margot Robbie is set to play infamous former figure-skating champion Tonya Harding in a biographical feature, “I, Tonya.” Deadline.com said the Australian actress, 25, is also producing the film through her company, LuckyChap Entertainment, alongside producer Bryan Unkeless’ Clubhouse Pictures.

Harding, 45, pleaded guilty in 1994 to conspiring to hinder prosecution in the case against her ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, who while married to her had arranged for skating rival Nancy Kerrigan to be attacked. Alexandra Powers and Heather Langenkamp played the respective title roles in a 1994 TV-movie, “Tonya & Nancy: The Inside Story.”

Steven Rogers (“Kate & Leopold,” “Love the Coopers”) wrote the script for “I, Tonya,” based on his interviews with both Harding and Gillooly, who served six months in an Oregon boot camp for the crime and in 1995 changed his name to Jeff Stone.

Robbie, who stars opposite Tina Fey in “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot,” plays the supervillain Harley Quinn in the upcoming “Suicide Squad” and Jane Porter in “The Legend of Tarzan.”
