WHO The Beatles

THE MOVIE "Yellow Submarine"

THE DEAL The Fab Four will return - sort of - for a remake of their 1968 animated classic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Zemeckis will direct using the motion-capture technology he helped pioneer with "Beowulf" and last year's Disney film "A Christmas Carol." The cast of relative unknowns (still in negotiations) includes Dean Lennox Kelly as John Lennon, Peter Serafinowicz as Paul McCartney, Adam Campbell as Ringo Starr and Cary Elwes ("The Princess Bride") as George Harrison. The film will use actual licensed Beatles music.

WHO Tobey Maguire

THE MOVIE "Spider-Man 4"

THE DEAL The actor has parted ways with one of Hollywood's most profitable franchises - and so has director Sam Raimi. Columbia Pictures is now working on a reboot that sends Peter Parker back to his teenage years, Variety reports. No cast or director has been announced, but the film is scheduled for release in the summer of 2012. Columbia needs to keep moving forward on the project, otherwise the Spider-Man character could revert to Disney, which recently bought the Marvel Comics stable.

WHO The Grateful Dead

THE EVENT Rare clips and concerts

THE DEAL The ultimate San Francisco rock band lives on in an evening of filmed performances curated by Freeport-based archivist Bill Shelley. The footage, which dates from the 1960s to the 1980s, includes versions of "Casey Jones," "Uncle John's Band" and the classic "Truckin'." A tribute band, the Electrix Jams, is scheduled to play.
