THE DEAL Add film producer to Bieber’s résumé: The 24-year-old singer is developing an animated movie based on the god Cupid, according to Variety. In addition to serving as executive producer, Bieber would provide the voice of Cupid, a figure of classical mythology with a reputation for mischief, trickery and, of course, turning innocent folks into lovers with his bow and arrow. The film will be produced by Mythos Studios, which was co-founded by producer David Maisel and Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun.

THE MOVIE “Needle in a Timestack”
THE DEAL The Tony-winning “Hamilton” star has signed on for a time-travel romance from director John Ridley. The film, based on a short story about two people trying to save their marriage in an era of time travel, also features Freida Pinto, Cynthia Erivo and Orlando Bloom. Ridley won an Oscar for his screenplay for “12 Years a Slave” and created ABC’s Emmy-winning series “American Crime.”

THE DEAL Marina Zenovich’s documentary on the late comic will kick off this year’s SummerDocs series at Guild Hall on June 29 at 7 p.m. Presented by the Hamptons International Film Festival, the series will also feature “Bathtubs Over Broadway,” about a man who collects corporate-themed musical soundtracks, and “Chef Flynn,” a look at 19-year-old celebrity chef Flynn McGarry. Alec Baldwin will host all screenings and conduct Q&A sessions with guests.
