Movie buzz: Julian Schnabel controversy
WHO Julian Schnabel
THE MOVIE "Miral"
THE DEAL The Montauk filmmaker's latest has drawn condemnation from the American Jewish Committee for its "blatantly one-sided" depiction of Arab-Israeli tensions, prompting a fierce response from Harvey Weinstein, its distributor. Weinstein told The Hollywood Reporter the film was a "pathway to peace" and noted that he and Schnabel are both Jewish-Americans. "The people who don't want you to see the movie for political reasons are crazy or wrong," he said. The film is scheduled for release March 25.
