 THE DEAL The filmmaker from <a href="/topics//Manhasset_Hills,_NY">Manhasset Hills</a> is working on the documentary, which explores the 1993 mass shooting by Colin <a href="/topics//Colin_Ferguson">Ferguson</a> that killed six people. Over the weekend, Minn interviewed Rep. <a href="/topics//Carolyn_McCarthy">Carolyn McCarthy</a> (D-<a href="/topics//Mineola,_NY">Mineola</a>), whose husband was killed, and her son, Kevin, who survived. Minn says he has been unable to speak with Ferguson, who is in prison. "This one really hit home for me, because I still take that train to this day," says Minn, who lives in Manhattan. "This is a crime that really shook <a href="/topics//New_York_(state)">New York</a>." The film is scheduled to be ready for release early next year.

 THE DEAL The actor best known for playing <a href="/topics//Jason_Voorhees">Jason Voorhees</a> in several "Friday the 13th" films is starring in another horror movie, this one being shot largely on <a href="/topics//Long_Island,_NY">Long Island</a>. Locations so far have included <a href="/topics//Patchogue,_NY">Patchogue</a>, <a href="/topics//Holtsville,_NY">Holtsville</a> and <a href="/topics//Hampton_Bays,_NY">Hampton Bays</a>. According to a release from the filmmakers, Hodder and Bill Moseley ("The Devil's Rejects," "The <a href="/topics//Texas">Texas</a> Chainsaw Massacre 2") will play "twisted brothers working together to exact revenge on careless teen drivers who may be responsible for their mother's hit-and-run death." Brandi Cyrus (half-sister of Miley) also stars. The director and editor is Christian Winters, whose <a href="/topics//Selden,_NY">Selden</a>-based company, Hilo Films, has produced music videos for <a href="/topics//Taking_Back_Sunday_(musician)">Taking Back Sunday</a> and other local bands.

 THE DEAL Jessica Yu's documentary makes the case that the looming water shortage will be the central issue facing the world this century. A screening this weekend will be accompanied by three guest speakers: Assemb. Steven Englebright (D-<a href="/topics//Setauket,_NY">Setauket</a>); Larry Swanson, assistant dean of Stony Brook University's School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, and Eric Weltman, senior organizer with the public interest group Food &amp; Water Watch, which is copresenting the event.
