Oscar-winner Natalie Portman will portray Jacqueline Kennedy in "Jackie," a movie drama about the late first lady during the first four days after President John F. Kennedy's assassination in November 1963.

Variety said on Thursday that Portman, 33, who grew up in Jericho and graduated from Syosset High School, will begin production on the Darren Aronofsky-produced film late this year. Pablo Larrain (2012's "No") is directing.

No other casting was announced.

Portman, who won the best actress Academy Award for her role in director Aronofsky's "Black Swan" (2010), will portray another real-life figure, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in "On the Basis of Sex," Deadline.com reported last week.
