Two theaters in Manhattan are among the 30 this Friday that will premiere the trailer for the next "Star Wars" film.
LucasFilm announced Monday that the AMC Lincoln Square on the Upper West Side and the Regal Union Square in Greenwich Village will screen the trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." After this weekend, the trailer will appear in theaters worldwide.
Director and co-writer J.J. Abrams Monday tweeted a photo of a memo pad on his company Bad Robot's Twitter page. "A tiny peek at what we're working on -- this Friday in select theaters," read a handwritten note. "Hope you enjoy and have a most excellent Thanksgiving! Best, JJ."
The seventh film in creator George Lucas' space opera is scheduled for release on Dec. 18, 2015. Set roughly 30 years after the events of "Star Wars: Episode VI -- Return of the Jedi" (1983), it stars Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis and Max von Sydow, who join original cast-members including Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill.
