The Oscar-winning musical "Oklahoma!" will return to theaters nationwide for the first time in 60 years beginning Sunday.
Broadway actress Kristin Chenoweth -- an Oklahoma native -- will appear before each screening in a featurette, singing selections from what she calls "my favorite musical."
The 1955 film, starring Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones, Rod Steiger and Eddie Albert, features such classic Rodgers and Hammerstein numbers as "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin' " and "People Will Say We're In Love." It was the first feature photographed in Todd-AO 70 mm widescreen and will be shown in a digital restoration.
Local venues showing "Oklahoma!" include The Farmingdale Multiplex Cinema, Island 16 Cinema De Lux in Holtsville, Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington and Bow Tie Manhasset
Cinemas. For information and tickets, go to Oklahoma60.com.
